On Tuesday October 22nd, 2019 there was a ceremonial knocking on a foundation stone of Centre for Medical Studies ‘UniMeC’ of Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Plzeň, which will be used for teaching general medicine and dentistry. Construction of this new part of the campus will be a continuation of GEMO’s successful cooperation at the 1st phase of the construction of buildings UniMeC and BioMeC.
When the campus is finished the Faculty of Medicine in Plzeň will, after more than 75 years, get a place which is directly designed for modern teaching of general and dental medicine.
During the 1st phase of the construction of the UniMeC project, a place for five theoretical institutes and a Biomedical Centre for research was created.
The next phase, whose construction has just begun, includes construction of the main building of Centre for Medical Studies and connected infrastructure, which will modernise the process of teaching future doctors and it will also expand the Faculty of Medicine’s facilities.
A third phase is considered for the construction of UniMeC, which would include a construction of a sports hall and a building for the Institute of Physical Education.
