Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín launches construction of the Centre of Polymer Systems. The project was designed by PROJECT building s. r. o. Brno and the general contractor is GEMO OLOMOUC spol. s r. o.
Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín launched construction of the Centre of Polymer Systems on Friday, 19 April 2013. The centre will be built between Antonínova St. and Tomáš Baťa Boulevard. The construction of the research complex will cost CZK 330 million, with special equipment costing around CZK 176 million, Jan Malý from the chancellor’s office reported to the Czech News Agency today. The entire project is funded by the European grants.
The Centre will comply with the latest requirements for the research of polymer systems and the use of the latest technology. More than 120 Czech and foreign research employees will work at the facility. The subject of research will be advanced polymer systems with the ability to create original structures such as polymeric nanofibres, materials for medical applications, biopolymers and smart polymeric materials.
Construction should be completed in October of next year. The university is now completing the laboratory centre for the Technology Faculty. The building for CZK 527 million, which will house special laboratories with modern equipment, will focus on research activities and instruction in master’s and doctoral study programmes. Construction of the Educational Complex intended mainly for the teaching of the humanities should also begin this year. Enrolment at the university in Zlín this academic year is nearly 12,000 students, last year 12,920 students attended UTB. A total of 2,940 students began their first year of studies in 2012.
