With the symbolic laying of the foundation stone, construction of the Centre of Polymer Systems at Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín began on 18 June 2013 The ceremony was attended by Chancellor Petr Sáha, CPS Director Vladimír Pavlínek, the building’s architect, representatives of the Ministry of Education, representatives of the region and city, the general contractor and other guests.
The building situated between Antonínova St. and Tomáš Baťa Boulevard in Zlín will provide Tomáš Baťa University world-class facilities for the research of polymer materials using cutting-edge technologies. The project will also create 120 jobs for researchers, both Czech and foreign.
“The projected cost of the building is CZK 333.2 million, and the total cost of special equipment for the centre is CZK 176.5 million, CZK 70 million of which has already been invested,” said Sáha. The general contractor of the project with a planned completion date in October 2014 is the construction firm GEMO OLOMOUC, spol. s.r.o.
