International hotel chain opens new facility in Olomouc

The ceremonial opening of the NH OLOMOUC CONGRESS, a new facility in the NH HOTELES international hotel chain, was held in Olomouc on Thursday, 10 June 2010.

The modern, four star superior category hotel offers 280 beds in 137 rooms (mainly double) and can hold up to 1,050 congress guests in flexible conference halls. The hotel likewise features a restaurant, breakfast room, bar, summer terrace and all required support facilities, including a private indoor parking lot with a landscaped roof and a capacity of 110 cars. The hotel is connected to the adjacent OMEGA Sports and Health Centre by an underground passageway, enabling guest to take advantage of all sports and wellness services without leaving the building. The roof above of the parking lot is used for adventure golf – an attractive version of miniature golf. Opened on 10 May 2010, the hotel hosted the 9th annual Czech International Paediatric Conference for more than 1,500 guests at the end of its first month.

The investor and owner of the hotel is HOTELPARK STADION a.s., which chose the Spanish firm NH HOTELES as the operator for the new facility. HN HOTELES operates more than 400 hotels in 25 countries around the world. The hotel is therefore part of this international chain’s online reservation system at http://www.nh-hotels.com/

The hotel was built by GEMO OLOMOUC, spol. s r.o., which also served as the general contractor for the entire development project, including the revitalization of Legionářská St. and the construction of the sports centre. The hotel was designed by the Olomouc firm Studio PRAK s.r.o.

The construction of the hotel was the culmination of the extensive development project to transform the former Spartakiad stadium grounds into a multi-functional complex; the redevelopment of more than eight hectares at the site led to the creation of the modern OMEGA Sports and Health Centre, a training football pitch and the luxury NH OLOMOUC CONGRESS hotel, including essential infrastructure and landscaping.

As such, Olomouc now has a new location for free-time activities, recreational and competitive sports, premium accommodations and conference and large congress facilities for domestic and foreign clients. The supra-regional nature of this project has raised Olomouc to a higher level, and the new services and fine architecture have significantly expanded possibilities for Olomouc residents and visitors alike.
