As part of the 4th annual Open Garden Weekend event held on Saturday, 8 June 2013, GEMO OLOMOUC invited the general public to view the private gardens at its company headquarters in Dlouhá street, Olomouc - Lazce, between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Open Garden Weekend offers people the opportunity to visit gardens that are normally closed to the public or to discover their favourite parks in a new way. This year’s event was organized by the Park Guide civic association in cooperation with the National Heritage Institute and the Czech Landscape and Garden Society.
The European-wide event, which began in the UK as the Open Garden & Squares Weekend, is held each year on the second weekend of June. In the Czech Republic this project involves gardens that are normally closed to the public as well as parks and public spaces that event organisers attempt to showcase in an untraditional form.
Tours of the private gardens at GEMO OLOMOUC headquarters in Lazce were organised by the firm Zahrada Olomouc, the designer of this remarkable work of landscape architecture, the firm also planted and maintains the garden.
